Frequently Asked Questions

The journey to become a pilot is both exciting and demanding. Here are answers to the 50 most common questions prospective pilots often ask me:

“Logistics and Location”

Where is the training located, and what’s the easiest way to get there?

Training is based out of the Oakland International Airport, which is easy to access whether you’re driving or flying in. The airport is well-equipped and has plenty of parking, and it’s centrally located for anyone in the Bay Area. If you need directions or have any questions about getting here, just let me know, and I’ll help you out.  If we are going to use your plane, I’m happy to come to you.

What facilities are available at the training location?

We use Signature Aviation’s facilities at KOAK. The training location has everything we need to make your experience comfortable and productive. There’s an open loungh, briefing rooms for pre- and post-flight discussions, and plenty of space for ground school sessions.

Do you operate year-round, and what are your hours of operation?

Yes, we operate year-round. Flying doesn’t have an off-season! I’m available seven days a week, and I’ll work with you to build a schedule that fits your needs. Whether you want to train in the early mornings, afternoons, or weekends, we can make it happen.

Can I start my training at one location and finish at another?

No, I recommend sticking with one location for the duration of your training. Switching locations can really slow down your progress because it means working with new instructors, adjusting to unfamiliar procedures, and possibly re-learning some things you’ve already covered. If you’re committed to an accelerated program and want to make the most of your time and money, staying in one place is the way to go.
